My Birthday

My birthday fell on a Tuesday this year and birthdays are always important, but I have found them especially hard while being away. It makes me miss home a lot. This being my 30th birthday, I was feeling a bit sad that I wasn’t going to be celebrating with my family and my friends at home. But, it turned out to be an amazing birthday! One I will always remember, being in Singapore, yet surrounded by so many friends and family!
I woke up to Steve and Madi kisses and birthday wishes, phone calls from home, my parents and friends. I got to school to a team meeting with cake and good wishes. I started my day with cards from my kids and then a package from home filled with so many cards and presents and goodies from home. I was then told that I had flowers delivered from Paula and Joanna. I had friends from Singapore making me feel special all day, being so sweet! Then when I got home I was wine and dined by Steve, an amazing bottle of wine that Steve bought at a wine and cheese months before, presents, new shoes and a running bracelet that keeps track of everything for me. Then he took me to this amazing restaurant called Ember. We had the Chef’s Table, which means that you do not order, the chef prepares 8 courses and brings them out, you eat what he prepares! It was such a fun experience. It was so nice to go for dinner with just Steve and enjoy amazing food! I tried all sorts of different things and liked almost all of it!!
So the 14th was amazing! But it wasn’t over yet. On Saturday my close girlfriends Charla and Julie treated me like a Queen! We went to Sentosa and had a “fish spa” which means you put your feet into a pool of fish and they eat the dead skin off your feet…it was so fun and a bit freaky! Then we had foot massages and then had lunch on the beach, it was great!
That night Steve and I went over to Julie’s where Julie and Charla had prepared the most perfect dinner party! There were only about 14 people there…small numbers, my favourite! They know that I love butter and chocolate, so that was the theme, lots of flavoured butter to go with potatoes and steak! Followed by a Peanut butter chocolate fondue!!
It was such a nice night with great friends and food!!
So I am very thankful to have felt so loved on my birthday by so many. Steve and I always say how lucky we are to have to places in the world that we love! Here are a few pics from my special day.
