Staff Get Away

Every year around February/March the staff goes away for the weekend to an Island in Malaysia. This time it was a new destination, another beautiful beach in Malaysia, but a new island called Rawa. So on March 6-8 Steve and I hopped on the bus with 70 of our staff members and headed to the beach for the weekend.
It was so nice to just relax for the weekend and hang out in beautiful water!
Steve and I even went Kayaking around the whole island, so fun!
Here are a few pics…none of them really do the island justice, but oh well!
Just ebfore lunch a storm blew in, funto watch and got us out of the sun for a few hours

February in Singapore

We only a few pictures for February as we stayed in Singapore for the whole month…imagine that!
We had friends announce they are pregnant and due on Madison’s birthday!
Since then they have hired Josefina to live with them and help them with their new baby, which is so great for both Ted and Belinda and Josefina. Ted and Belinda are so wonderful and Josefina is amazing, so a perfect match!

Steve has a few pictures of his PE class learning archery…the bulls eye was a picture of Steve’s face!
During the month we had Carol and Bill in and out of Singapore, so we were able to do a few things with them like a BBQ by the pool and on their last night we went to Vivo city (a mall) and shopped, had dinner and went to one last Gold class movie! We saw Slum Dog Millionaire…so good, so disturbing…the book was way better, but anyway…we had a great time.

It was sad to see them go, but we are so thankful that they came over before we moved home.

Bangkok January 2009

While we were in Australia Carol and Bill were off to Thailand. They were able to spend almost three weeks there, starting in the North and going down to the south. We were able to meet them in the middle, in Bangkok, a city we LOVE.
The trip landed two days after we got back from Australia, so it was busy, but we were very glad to be able to make it to see them. Who would have ever thought we would be visiting with Bill and Carol in Bangkok! When we arrived we had a late dinner with them in the hotel and heard all about their adventures so far. Madi was exhausted so we went to bed.
The next morning we met at Breakfast and we enjoyed a great buffet before heading off to our favourite market…Chatuchak! It is always fun to go because it is so full of crazy stuff. We spent the whole morning there, shopping, drinking fresh juice, eating thai food and taking in the craziness.
Steve and I finally caved and bought a set of stainless steel flatware, we love it and it was a great price, 190 Sing (160 CAN) for a 12 person setting of five pieces…so a good deal, but we don’t really need it…oh well, we love it!!

After the market we went back to our hotel and Steve and Madi took a nap, Bill did some reading, while Carol and I explored a bit more. We decided to shop a bit more and then get a foot massage, it was a perfect way to spend the afternoon!

Then Carol and Bill took us out for a lovely Italian dinner. After dinner Carol and I went to the night market and did some more shopping!
The next day we met for breakfast and went to the temple and looked around China town. It was pretty early still, on a Sunday, so not much was open, but it was neat to wander around.
Steve and Madi and I had to catch a plane in the early afternoon so we said out good byes and headed off. Carol and Bill stayed in Bangkok for a few more days before heading down to Phuket for their last stop in Thailand.

We had a lovely weekend, it was nice to be away with Madison and travel with Bill and Carol.
