We knew that Christmas in the tropics is different, but this year was very different because it was the very first year ever, in my whole life, that I was not celebrating with my parents! We learned very quickly that Christmas, any holiday or celebration is really only about the people! That being said we did have a wonderful, very merry Christmas! Madison brings us pure joy on any given day, but on Christmas especially. She was just adorable, so excited about Santa coming, so happy to see that he had come. She was excited about every present, took the time to play or look at each thing. She even tried on the clothes that were sent from Canada, over top of her pajamas! She knew that presents had come from people in Canada who love her and she took great care to open each one.
This was the first Christmas that really made sense to Madi, so it was a lot of fun!
Christmas eve was fun, but completely A-typical! We decided that when in Rome, do like the Romans, so we went out for dinner to a Thai restaurant and had a pitcher of margaritas and Thai food!
That night we tucked Madi into bed and went to sleep. During the night, Santa came! He had no trouble finding Madi in Singapore!
She woke up about 7 and came and got us, and then she noticed the toys! She ran, with a huge smile, saying “ Santa came…look at the toys” Too cute.
We had lots of fun opening up gifts and enjoying the morning. We web cammed with my parents and brothers, with was nice. We spoke to a few others on the phone both Christmas eve and Christmas day, so that was very nice.
We then got ready for Brunch. We all dressed up and headed to the Mandarin Oriental, a 5 star hotel in Singapore, to meet friends for Christmas Champagne Brunch! I think we will try to incorporate Bubbles into Canadian celebrations more often!!
We sat with many friends who were in Singapore, Shawn and Nicole, who just had their new baby boy Graden and Grandma Nancy. Christina and Darren, Brandy and James and both sets of their parents and a Stacey another friend, were all there.
So we feasted on extravagant food and champagne! There was everything imaginable and I think I ate and drank my weight in deliciousness!
We ate for over three hours! How did Madi last you ask…well, they have this fabulous Kids room, full of toys and snacks and running a movie…she LOVED it!
When we got home late in the afternoon we were all exhausted and so FULL!
So we all had a nap!
When we woke up we spoke to more people from home and watched Christmas movies!
We packed the next day and left for India!
Next blog for details on that adventure!!
