At the Grand Palace
On Thursday night we left for Bangkok . We arrived quite late, Madi was already asleep, so we went straight to bed. Our hotel was great, very central, clean and had breakfast delivered every morning.
On Friday we were up and ready by about 9 and went to see the Grand Palace . This is quite the place, with very elaborate temples and buildings. We saw the Emerald Buddha and explored a little bit. We then stopped for lunch, including a fresh fruit shake and a beer of course! Then a river taxi to a shopping centre. After that we went to check out Bangkok ’s biggest mall. After a short while we were tired and hot and took a tuk tuk back to the hotel. The traffic in Bangkok is crazy! You can walk faster than a taxi can drive you! And in the tuk tuk we were sucking the fumes of the other cars all the way home! When we got back to our hotel we took a short nap, had showers and went out for dinner. We went to a place that was highly recommended called Cabbages and Condoms…I have no idea why. It was Thai food and it was delicious! And the setting was beautiful! Lights throughout the vines and a beautiful patio to sit on.
After dinner we went to one of the night Markets, Suan Lum, it was great, although we were tired and Madi was asleep in her stroller! We walked through and checked lots of things out, but did not buy anythig…crazy!
Saturday morning we went to the world famous Chatachuk Market. It is the weekend market in Bangkok and has something like 20 000 visitors per day. We walked around for a few hours and found a few great treasures. By about 12:30 We were hot and tired so we went back to the hotel for a shower and some play time with Madi. We went out to an amazing Creperie for lunch, expensive, but delicious! It was a great way to spend the afternoon!
Dinner was around 8 at a beautiful Italian place. And then we headed back to our hotel and watched a DVD.
Sunday morning we went to the airport and flew back to Singapore . We got home around 4:00 and left at 4:30 for a BBQ.
We had a fantastic weekend away exploring a great city and enjoying spending time together.
